This project is inspired by the good basketball games I have with my friends. I used Procreate for the sketching and painting and then Photoshop for the editing, lighting and shadows.
I placed three main objects in the scene to keep the balance. Two figures and the basket. Also the NBA player figures on the back are there to blend the attention of the viewer to the whole composition and not just on the figures, even thought the main focus stays on the humans.
This character is showing the passionate side of the game of basketball. Its a calm sport mainly but it can also become very competitive. His body language and expression are showing that.
And this character's body language is showing the opposite. Devistation for getting dunked. I chose to draw the characters in simple outfits so the attention whould go on the face expressions and body position, to pass those emotions they have on the viewer.
The colors also are not making much contrast and my intention was to blend them smoothly between them. Thats why for the skin tone for example I use some of the background colors such as purple and yellow.Same with the basket and the background.
